    Training program on cultivation, commercialization of medicinal plants of Ladakh held in Kargil

    Kargil, August 03, 2024: One-day training cum awareness programme on Cultivation and Commercialization of Medicinal Plants in UT of Ladakh was conducted by RCFC NR-II, NMPB, Ministry of Ayush, SKUAST Kashmir, at MAR&ES Kargil.
    Stakeholders including progressive farmers, students from Govt. Degree College Kargil participated in the event.
    The programme was attended by experts from different sectors including Professor Shiekh Bilal Ahmad, Regional Director RCFC; Prof. Faizan Ahmad, Chief Scientist MAR & ES; Dr Liyaqat Ayoub, Technical Assistant RCFC; Dr Tsetan Dolkar Assistant Professor GDC Kargil; Dr. Rinchan Dolkar Young Women Scientist DST, President Baseeji Ziraat.
    During the event lectures were delivered by the experts on the significance of the medicinal plant sector as a great income generating option.
    Prof. Faizan Ahmad, Chief Scientist MAR & ES, University of Ladakh formally welcomed the guests. Prof. Shiekh Bilal Ahmad Regional director RCFC delivered a lecture on value addition of different medicinal plants found in Kargil region.
    He highlighted the vital role of medicinal plants endemic to UT of Ladakh for livelihood generation and health security.
    Prof. Shiekh Bilal also discussed honey production in Kargil from different crops like Alfa Alfa and buckwheat. More than 35 farmers participated in the training programme. Technical literature was also distributed among the participants.
