    Martyrs Day Commemorated at Martyrs Memorial Park.
    Leh, August 28: Martyrs Day was solemnly observed at the Martyrs Memorial Park Skyatsags on August 27.
    The ceremony was graced by Chairman/CEC Tashi Gyalson; Dy.Chairman Tsering Angchuk; Executive Councillor for RDD Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, Executive Councillor for Culture Stanzin Chosphel, Nominated Councillor Ven.Konchok Tsepel; Former Member of Parliament Thupstan Chhewang; President, Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), Chering Dorjey Lakrook; Vice President LBA Rigzen Dorjey; Vice President Anjuman Imamia Syed Naqi shah ;Vice President Anjuman Moin-ul Islam Mr Nazir Ahmad; District President Tashi Gyaltsan Kachu ;LBA Women Wing President Kunzes Dolma; LBA Youth President Jigmet Raftan; District Congress Committee President, Shri Rigzin Namgyal ,various other officials, students of Lamdon school and others.
    The event honored the courageous contributions of Ladakhi martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of Ladakh. The ceremony also featured a poignant reflection on the 1989 Ladakh war and the sacrifices of individuals like Nawang Rinchen, Tsering Stobdan, and Tsewang Dorjey, who gave their lives in the struggle for UT status for Ladakh. The contributions of Ven. Lobzang Tsondus and Tashi Angchuk, who perished during the 1981 agitation for Scheduled Tribe status, were also remembered. The importance of remembering these martyrs was reiterated and their role in shaping Ladakh’s current status.
    In his address, the Chairman/CEC Tashi Gyalson emphasized the importance of celebrating this day and urged greater participation in these celebrations. He highlighted the significant challenges that Ladakh has faced to reach its current position and stressed that the sacrifices made should never be forgotten. It is crucial to make the youth aware of these sacrifices to inspire them to achieve great things for Ladakh.The Chairman assured that the council is committed to honoring the legacy of past leaders and efforts are underway to fortify the UT and the newly formed districts, with a focus on long term development and progress.
    Additionally, the Chairman mentioned recent constructive discussions with the apex body, noting that their interests align closely. He urged students to deeply appreciate the sacrifices made for their benefit, as they represent the future of Ladakh.
    President Chering Dorjey Lakrook in his address praised and appreciated the ongoing efforts of the CEC Tashi Gyalson and highlighted the need for youth to be educated about the historical significance of this day.
    The event concluded with a call to honor the memory of those who fought for Ladakh’s rights and to continue their legacy by working towards the region’s progress and unity.
