Govt Degree College Khaltse observes National Sports Day.
Leh, August 30, 2024: Department of Physical Education and Sports Govt. Degree College Khaltse observed National Sports Day with a vibrant array of sports activities on the college campus on August 29.
National Sports Day celebrated annually honors the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand on his birth anniversary and stressed the importance of sports and physical fitness. Established by the Indian government in 2012, this day aims to promote national unity, a healthy lifestyle, and inspire the youth to participate in sports.
The celebrations commenced with a series of athletic competitions, including Shot Put and Discus Throw, held at the college’s new campus. The events continued with a 100-meter race and Table Tennis matches. Punchok Dorjay of 1st semester won the boys’ Table Tennis final and Lobzang Palmo from the 5th emerged won in the girls’ category.
At the end, certificates were distributed to all participants and winners.
