Sankoo Campus, GDC Kargil organizes exposure visit cum hands-on training at CHC Sankoo.
Kargil, October 17, 2024: The Department of Zoology, Sankoo Campus, GDC Kargil on Wednesday organized an educational exposure visit and hands-on training program at CHC Sankoo for 5th Semester students.
The event was part of the department’s ongoing efforts to provide experiential learning experiences that bridge classroom education with real-world applications.
With the valuable support of CHC Sankoo, a comprehensive orientation session was conducted by the resource team of the health center. During the session, the students were introduced to the structure and functioning of the CHC, as well as the wide range of medical services and facilities available at the facility.
Following the orientation, the students visited the hospital, visiting various departments such as emergency services, OPD, operation theatre, laboratory services, and wards. They gained valuable knowledge about the day-to-day functioning of the health institution.
As part of the training component, students participated in hands-on activities facilitated by technicians from the hospital. The training included practical demonstrations on blood group determination, slide preparation, and the operation of essential laboratory equipment such as the centrifuge and oven.
These activities provided students with vital technical skills and a deeper understanding of basic laboratory procedures, which are critical in both medical and research fields.
The students were accompanied by Dr. Javed I Naqi, Head of the Department (HoD) and Dr. Ahmed Ali of the Zoology department. Dr. Javed said these visits will help raise awareness among students about healthcare facilities available in the region. This, in turn, can play a critical role in saving lives during emergency situations.
The visiting faculty members and students expressed gratitude to Block Medical Officer (BMO), CHC Sankoo, Dr. Zahida Khatoon for her generous support in facilitating the visit and providing the students with an enriching learning experience.
