    DLSA organises Legal Literacy Programme at Druk Padma Karpo School Shey.
    Leh, October 24, 2024: District Legal Service Authority (DLSA), Leh organized Legal Literacy Programme on Drug Abuse and Right to Education at Druk Padma Karpo School Shey.
    The program was attended by Shri Manoj Parihar, the Chairman District Legal Services Authority Leh (Pr. District & Sessions Judge Leh), Shri Nema Stanzin, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defence Counsel, Shri Lakshay Badyal, Munsif Nubra, Mingur Angmo Principal Druk Padma Karpo School, teachers, students, and para legal volunteers.
    Madam Ishey of the Druk Padma Karpo School welcomed the guest. While addressing the gathering Shri Manoj Parihar (Pr.District and Session Judge ) had an interaction with the students’ regarding Drug Abuse and Right to Education and provided a brief introduction to the topic.
    Speaking on the occasion, the principal of the school, Mingur Angmo emphasised on the prevention of Drug abuse and Right to Education make ourselves more aware about this issue and avoid the groups involved in drug addiction and its related activities. She also encouraged the students to take effort and responsibility towards making a drug free Ladakh.
    Later on, guest speaker Advocate Nema Stanzin (DCLADC) spoke on the significance of the day and stated that drug abuse has become a major cause of concern all over the globe. It is a devastating concern that has been running riot for decades and there is an urgent need to put an end to it. Drug abuse is synonymous with substance disorder abuse. Victims of such abuse are in pitiable conditions. After that he also explained the right to education which is to provide free and compulsory education to all the children of the age group of six to fourteen years as a Fundamental Rights in such a manner as the State may, by law, determine.
    In his speech, he advised the students to focus more on their health, to stay away from drug menace and encouraged them to embrace challenges, stay curious, and strive for continuous learning.
