CEC attends inaugural ceremony of new administrative & academic building of Suru Valley Public School Kargil
Kargil, Nov 16, 2024: Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today attended inaugural ceremony of the new administrative and academic building of Suru Valley Public School Kargil.
Executive Councilor, Er. Punchok Tashi; Councilor, Feroz Ahmed; Joint Director, Information, Ladakh; Director Kargil Campus, University of Ladakh; Founder of Suru Valley Public School, Elija Spalbar Gergen other founding member of the school, Chairman , parents, teachers and students were present during the inaugural ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, CEC Kargil congratulated students, teachers, staff, managing committee of the school on the auspicious occasion of the inaugural session of the new administrative and academic block of the Suru Valley Public School.
Dr Akhoon said Suru Valley Public School is the first ever private school opened in Kargil in 1982 and it has played a pivotal role in shaping the future of Kargil. He said many brilliant alumni of the school presently work in government and private sector which itself is the testament of the academic vibrant legacy of the school.
The CEC also appreciated the efforts of the founding member of the school Elija Spalbar Gergen along with other members for envisaging the idea and turned it into a reality. CEC Kargil also hailed the efforts of the managing committee, contributors, funders, sponsors who funded for the construction of the school building.
He said despite limited resources a marvellous structure has come into existence with the support of dedicated committee members. The CEC announced a grant of Rs 4 lakh from untied fund to purchase necessary machinery and equipment for the school.
Speaking on the occasion, EC Tashi hailed the efforts of chairman of the school Nasir Shabani for extending his full support in the management of the school. He said Nasir Shabani’s contribution in the education sector is immense and should be appreciated. He also said that the Government should also support the private school. He said this issue will be taken up with the higher authorities of UT Ladakh to address it on priority basis.
Joint Director, Information, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho, who is an alumni of the school, lauded the efforts of the school committee for constructing the additional infrastructure. He also recalled his childhood memories when he was a student of the school and also shared his experience. He advised students to work hard to achieve their goals and be focused. He further advised them to limit the usage of social media.
Later, appreciation certificates were distributed among the contributors, fundraisers who donated for the construction of the new school building.
