DHEW Mission Shakti, Department of Social & Tribal Welfare, Kargil organizes district level awareness on women empowerment .
Kargil, November 30, 2024: District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti, Department of Social & Tribal Welfare, Kargil today organized a district level awareness on Women Empowerment under the theme “Equity leads to Equality” at Syed Mehdi Memorial Hall Kargil.
Dr Kacho Liyaqat Ali Khan, CMO Kargil was the chief guest while Raziya Banoo District Agriculture Officer Kargil was the guest of honour. Nargis Banoo District Program officer ICDS were the special guests. Others who were present on the occasion include Farida Banoo CDPO Shargole, Niyaz Hussain, District Mission Coordinator, Mission Shakti, Syed Ayoub, District Coordinator, Poshan Abhiyan, Mansoor Hussain, Financial Specialist Mission Shakti, Amina Banoo, Gender Specialist Mission Shakti, Girl students from SVPS, JAME, Pioneer Public School, Self-Help Groups of LRLM, trainees from Handloom Department, Anganwadi workers and helpers.
The programme began with a pledge taking ceremony for elimination of domestic violence and gender discrimination.
Resource Person, Mansoor Hussain, Specialist in Financial literacy, Mission Shakti gave a presentation about Mission Shakti Kargil (an integrated Women Empowerment Programme) which is an umbrella scheme for safety, security and empowerment of women under the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. He highlighted the achievements of District Hub for Empowerment of Women under the Mission Shakti.
Another resource person, Raziya Banoo DAO, spoke about various schemes under the Agriculture department for empowerment of women through farming.
She highlighted that so far 1400 SHGs are registered with the department and capacity building and awareness programmes are conducted at the doorstep to progressive farmers. Besides, the department conducts All India Tour for the exposure of the SHGs.
Abhishek Kumar, DPM, LRLM, Kargil gave a presentation about NRLM and LRLM. He said that under LRLM, 938 SHGs are registered and LRLM is active in all 15 blocks and 86 Gram Panchayats in the UT. He also highlighted the progress and achievements under LRLM in the district. He also shared two success stories of women in Kargil under LRLM.
Ajaz Ali, Handicraft Training Officer, Kargil shared the role of the Handicraft department in making the artisans self-sufficient. He said that the department conducts training program in order to make aspirants artisan.
The department is also working on the preservation of traditional art and crafts. Speaking about the achievements, he said that the Ladakh Brand Showrooms are established in Delhi, Leh and Kargil.
Besides every year Enchanting Ladakh is held at Delhi Haat for 15 days where the artisans sell their products and get an opportunity to interact with other artisans.
Rukhsana Banoo, Training Instructor Handloom Department also spoke about various trades and schemes under the department.
Meanwhile, trophy and medals were distributed by DHEW under the initiative of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme to 6 Gold and Silver Medallists of Taekwondo athletes of Sports Authority of India Training Centre Kargil who participated in all India Inter SAI Taekwondo Championship held at SAI NSRC Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh from 4th to 6th September 2024.
Nargis Banoo, District Program Officer ICDS, thanked all the participants for attending the program and urged them to take benefits of various Government schemes. She expressed gratitude to DHEW for conducting this fruitful program. The whole program was anchored by Amina Banoo, Gender Specialist, Mission Shakti Kargil.
