Leh, 24, January 2025: The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), and First Lady Smt. Neelam Mishra attended a function to celebrate Uttar Pradesh Foundation Day at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Uttar Pradesh, formed on 24 January 1950, is known for its rich cultural heritage and historical significance.
Advisor to the HLG Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS; DGP Ladakh, Dr. SD Singh Jamwal, IPS; Principal Secretary, Shri. Sanjeev Khirwar, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary, Dr. G Vasantha Kumar, IAS; Secretary Bhupesh Chaudhary, IAS and personnels from Uttar Pradesh serving in Ladakh were present during the occasion.
Speaking at the event, the HLG extended his warm wishes to the people of Uttar Pradesh on their Foundation Day. He spoke about the rich history of the state, highlighting its reputation for devotion, bravery, and music. He mentioned notable personalities such as Sur Das, Tulsi Das, Jhansi Rani, and Mangal Pandey, who have significantly contributed to these fields
The HLG also discussed prominent institutions like Banaras Hindu University and Allahabad University, where he has studied. He shared fond memories of his time at Allahabad University. Furthermore, he highlighted the ongoing progress of Uttar Pradesh under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, noting the large-scale management of the Mahakumbh, which is expected to witness about 50 crore devotees.
Earlier, First Lady Smt. Neelam Mishra spoke about the rich cultural history of Uttar Pradesh and recalled her days growing up in the state, where her family still resides. Secretary, Bupesh Chaudhary, IAS, also addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of celebrating foundation days under the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat” initiative. He mentioned that such celebrations bind people together and unite the diverse cultures of the country.
On this occasion, two personnel from Uttar Pradesh serving in Ladakh also spoke about the state’s rich cultural and historical background.
