Delegation led by Councillor Lamayuru calls on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).

Leh, March 5, 2025: A delegation led by Councillor Lamayuru Dr. Morup Dorjay called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat to seek financial assistance for the victims of the tragic fire incident that occurred on February 8, 2025, at a manufacturing unit in the Industrial Estate, Leh. The fire resulted in the loss of two workers’ lives and significant damage to the manufacturing unit.
During the meeting, the HLG directed the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Leh to expedite the process of providing financial assistance to the next of kin (NOK) of the victims. It was informed that the verification of the NOK is currently being carried out by the concerned Deputy Commissioners in Uttarakhand and Chhattisgarh, where the victims’ families are based.
In addition to addressing the needs of the victims’ families, Councillor Lamayuru also requested financial support for the owner of the manufacturing unit who suffered substantial losses due to the incident.
The HLG emphasized that the immediate priority is to provide financial assistance to the victims’ families and assured that other concerns, including support for the unit owner, will be addressed subsequently.
Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG Dr. L Franklin, IAS; Secretary GAD, Michael D’Souza, IAS and Additional Deputy Commissioner Leh Ghulam Mohd, JKAS were present during the meeting.
