Leh, March 7, 2025: A delegation comprising daily-rated workers from Leh and Kargil led by Phuntsog Angchuk called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS and Director, Finance, Dr Safdar Ali, IRS, were present in the meeting.
Phuntsog Angchuk, representing 1900 daily-rated workers working in different departments of UT Administration, for whom benefits of consolidated guidelines on causal workers of DoPT was recently extended and various benefits such as enhancement in salaries along with dearness allowances leaves among other benefits announced, expressed their gratitude for the HLG’s intervention in helping them achieve their long-pending demand. He informed the HLG that extending the benefits, particularly enhancing their salaries, would immensely help the families of all the 1900 employees.
The HLG congratulated them and informed them about efforts being made by the Administration to extend benefits to left-out employees from the list of 1900 daily-rated workers who are working in various government departments. He stated that a committee has been constituted to include all the employees excluded from the list of 1900 daily-rated employees to look into their issues and to provide minimum wages to them to ensure that they don’t face any inconvenience in their lives. He also asked the daily-rated and casual employees to perform their duties diligently and help the citizens of Ladakh.
The HLG also apprised the delegates of various welfare schemes introduced by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi for the poor and needy, such as Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM)-Urban and Grameen, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), etc. He also informed them about steps taken by the Government of India for the representation of women through one-third reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and the state legislative assemblies, etc.
