Councillor Chushul-led delegation from Phobrang calls on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd)

Leh, April 09, 2025: A delegation from Phobrang led by Councillor, Chushul, Konchok Stanzin called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; Chief Secretary, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary, Dr Vasanthakumar N, IAS; Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG, Dr L Franklin, IAS; Additional Secretary, Law and Justice, Shashikant Bhagat and Deputy Commissioner Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, IAS, were present in the meeting.
Councillor Konchok Stanzin apprised the HLG of commercial properties established by residents of Lukung, Phobrang and Yurgo on the banks of Pangong Lake on the land provided by LAHDC Leh to around 110 families after their commercial properties were taken down in 2018. He requested the HLG’s intervention in keeping the area out while conducting the rationalising boundaries exercise of Changthang Wildlife Sanctuary, as the livelihood of the people of all these villages is dependent on it.

The HLG stated that the matter can’t be raised in the Wildlife Board meeting due to the lack of proper documentation regarding the distribution of the land.
