    GDC Kargil launches three-week Bridge Course under PM-USHA.

    Kargil, April 15, 2025: Government Degree College Kargil has started a three-week-long Bridge Course for 12th Class Fresh Pass-out Students from 15th -29th April 2025.
    The inaugural ceremony of this Bridge Course was organised on 14th April 2025 in the college Seminar Hall where Principal Prof. Disket Angmo was the chief guest and Chief Education Officer Kargil Sonam Dorjey Namgyal attended as guest of honor.
    A total number of 233 students have registered their names for the course through online mode whereas 5 students have been registered offline on the day-1 of the course out of which 200 students attended the inaugural session on the day-1 of the Bridge Course.
    The program formally started with traditional Khataq presentation by Mohd Raza member PM-USHA Committee to the guests followed by the digital inauguration of the event by the august hands of Principal Prof. Disket Angmo.
    During her address, the principal presented a brief outline of the Bridge Course and urged the participating students to avail this opportunity in a true sense for a better career in higher education.
    Senior faculty member and District Nodal Officer PM-USHA MNM Shabani presented the structure of the Bridge Course. He informed that the Government has sanctioned Rs 7.4 crore for three colleges, collectively for GDC Kargil, GDC Drass and GDC Zanskar including Sankoo Campus under Prime Miniter Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) for gender inclusive equity initiative and the ongoing Bridge Course is part of the same program being launched before new admissions.
    He cited lack of proper guidance and counselling as the main reason that student’s potential resources are not being channelized purposefully during their higher education journey.
    Thus, the college has come up with this unique programme that is aimed at providing better opportunities of higher education and conscious option of career prospects.
    Shabani said that the resource persons will brief about the department profiles, faculty details, infrastructural facilities, co-curricular activities, lab facilities, courses offered and the salient features of sector skill courses offered by the college under NEP 2020.
    He also gave a brief outline of the implications of New Education Policy-2020 on higher education and the benefits for students under NEP.
    Chief Education Officer Kargil, in his address, appreciated the efforts of Principal GDC Kargil and PM USHA Committee for organizing such an impactful Bridge Course for the aspirants of higher education.
    He said NEP has brought significant student-centric changes in the entire system of education right from schools to higher education institutes. He said the course would help students to inspire students towards a conscious career choice that would further benefit them in true sense.
    CEO Kargil termed GDC Kargil as one of the best institutes to foster higher education in UT Ladakh and urged students to avail admission in the college to avail Higher Education at their doorsteps to develop a better academic as well as research culture in the region.
    Representatives of the College Student Council had a fruitful interactive session with the aspiring students of the Bridge course. Students asked and enquired about different facilities being provided by the college and Student Council Members answered their queries.
    Various students presented cultural programs including New College Tarana, written and composed by AP English Nasir-Ud-Din, traditional folk songs in Balti, Shina and Persian and poetry recitation in English which added to the diverse flavor of the inaugural ceremony.
    Kaniz Fatima, Assistant Professor (Education) and Convener of the College Culture and Seminar Committee, delivered the vote of thanks, while Stanzin Lhadol, Assistant Professor (Hindi), moderated the event.
