2nd day of Watershed Yatra 2025 held at Minji, Kargil.
Kargil, April 20, 2025: The second day of the Watershed Yatra 2025 was successfully held on April 20 at Panchayat Ghar, Minji, under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) 2.0 – Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP) Kargil.
The program commenced with a formal oath ceremony, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Mehdi Khan Kacho, Project Manager, IWMP Kargil.
Councillor Khadim Hussain Advocate (Constituency Baroo/Minji) graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He appreciated the effective implementation of the watershed project in the region and emphasized its potential to bring long-term benefits to the community.
Cultural and traditional highlights included Bhumi Poojan (Ground Blessing Ceremony), Loarpan (Traditional Ladakhi Ritual) and Watershed Mahotsav (Community Celebration).
These activities, held at Panchayat Ghar, symbolized the vibrant community participation and cultural significance of the initiative.
Minji is a key site under PMKSY 2.0’s IWMP, focusing on sustainable water conservation and rural development in Kargil. The event underscored the importance of community engagement, traditional practices, and government-citizen collaboration in successful watershed development.
Haji Sadiq, former PRI member, and Hasanain, Secretary of the Watershed Committee, Minji, also addressed the gathering. They expressed heartfelt gratitude to the community for their active support and participation in the project.
In his concluding remarks, Councillor Khadim Hussain Advocate reaffirmed his commitment to public service. He assured continuous cooperation with the people of his constituency and pledged to work tirelessly for its development and prosperity.
