Kargil, April 30, 2025: The Tehsil Legal Services Committee Zanskar (TLSCZ) today organized an awareness program on the Motor Vehicles Act, traffic rules and regulations, and other pressing social issues at the Conference Hall, Tourist Dak Bungalow, Padum.
Deldan Angmo, Chairman of TLSCZ, presided over the event as the Chief Guest, while Tehsildar Zanskar, Mohd Hussan, attended as the Guest of Honour. The event was also attended by several key officials, including Stanzin Gyalsan (Station House Officer), Dr. Stanzin Angmo (Block Medical Officer), Stanzin Ladon (Forensic Assistant), and other Sub-Divisional Officers.
Tsewang Yangjor (ASI Traffic) addressed the audience on traffic rules and regulations, emphasizing the rationale behind fines and penalties for traffic violations.
Advocate Lobzang Gaylack elaborated on the Motor Vehicles Act, particularly stressing the legal implications of minors driving without a valid license.
Stanzin Ladon (Forensic Assistant) shared insights on cybercrime, offering preventive measures and practical solutions.
Dr. Stanzin Angmo (BMO Zanskar) spoke on the growing issue of drug abuse, underlining its harmful effects on children and society at large.
Er. Skalzang Namgail (JE, PDD) educated attendees on the dangers of electricity misuse, focusing on the negligence related to high and low tension lines, transformers, earthing systems, and insulators installed near residential areas. He highlighted the risks of electrocution to both humans and livestock.
Tehsildar Mohd Hussan also addressed the gathering, urging the public to cooperate with the administration in maintaining law and order in the subdivision.
In her concluding remarks, Chairman Deldan Angmo summarized key takeaways from the session, highlighting issues related to the Motor Vehicles Act, drug abuse, cybercrime, and other social concerns. She also informed attendees about applicable fines and legal consequences for violations in these areas. She emphasized the importance of public awareness and legal compliance for a safe and progressive society.
The event witnessed active participation from a large number of Zanskar residents, who appreciated the initiative and requested similar programs in the future. The program concluded with a question-and-answer session followed by a vote of thanks by Mohd. Arief.
