CEC Dr Jaffer attends Concluding of PM-USHA Bridge Course

Kargil, May 3, 2025: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today attended the conclusion of three-week PM-USHA Bridge Course 2025 at Government Degree College Kargil.
Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil for Urban Development, Kacho Mohd Feroz, college faculty, students, and other were present.
The event commenced with the ceremonial ribbon-cutting by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, officially inaugurating the newly procured college bus to enhance student transportation facilities.
In his address CEC praised college principal and her team for marvellous achievements in different fields of education. The CEC proposed the formation of a committee to draft a roadmap for “Vision 2047” for Kargil.
Dr. Akhone assured resolution of all the issues faced by the college for smooth functioning of daily academic activities. He further assured the college administration that the delays in ongoing construction projects will be addressed immediately by the council.
Executive Councillor Kacho Feroz in his address congratulated the college for empowering students to make informed academic choices.
Principal Prof. Disket Angmo highlighted the college’s role over the past 24 years. She emphasised that local institutions in Ladakh, like GDC Kargil, are on par with metropolitan colleges in terms of quality and commitment.
Prof. MNM Shabani, District Nodal Officer for PM-USHA, provided an overview of the bridge course under the “Gender Inclusive & Equity Program,” outlining its objectives and impact.
A series of performances and presentations, including:
A Naat-e-Sharief by the Imani Sisters group, official release of the PM-USHA Bridge Course-2025 Newsletter and a captivating Purgi drama titled ‘Thokbar la Skya’ performed by 4th-semester students.
Later, faculty members were honored for their contributions, and participants of the Bridge Course received certificates and awards in various categories.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Razia Parveen while Nasir Ud Din (AP English) moderated the proceedings.
