    Successful Airlift of Ladakh Haj Pilgrims Amid Flight Cancellation

    Leh, May 16, 2025: The Haj Committee of Ladakh has successfully facilitated the airlift of 240 Haj pilgrims from Ladakh via two SpiceJet flights—SG 5211 and SG 5233—from Srinagar to Delhi and onward to Madinah Munawwarah. Flight No. SG 5109, which was originally scheduled to transport the pilgrims on May 9, 2025, had been canceled due to prevailing situation at the Srinagar Embarkation Point. Alhamdulillah, all pilgrims have now safely arrived in Madinah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
    At the Haj House, Srinagar Embarkation Point, the atmosphere was filled with emotion and heartfelt prayers as pilgrims from both Kargil and Leh districts departed on their sacred journey.
    The pilgrims were flagged off by Mohd Ali Majaz, Chairperson, Haj Committee UT Ladakh; Haji Nazir Ahmad and Mirza Hussain, Members, Haj Committee UT Ladakh; Dr. Shujat Ahmad, Executive Officer, JK Haj Committee; Haji Ali, Haj Officer, Haj Committee UT Ladakh; along with the supporting staff.
    The Chairperson expressed heartfelt gratitude to Shri Kiren Rijiju, Hon’ble Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs (Haj Division), Government of India; Brig. (Dr.) B.D. Mishra, Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of UT Ladakh; F.A. Khan Suri, Consul General of India, Jeddah; Shahnavas C, Chief Executive Officer, Haj Committee of India, Mumbai; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir; Deputy Commissioners/CEOs of LAHDC Kargil and Leh; Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Kashmir and Ladakh; and the Executive Officer (Nodal Officer, Embarkation Point), JK Haj Committee, Srinagar for their timely intervention and support in arranging additional flights.
    Special thanks were also extended to the Airport Authority of India, Srinagar; personnel of the National Security Force, JK Police, JK Home Guard; the Health Departments of JK and Ladakh UTs; SpiceJet Airlines; JK SRTC staff; and the staff of the JK Haj Committee, Srinagar, for their steadfast logistical support.
    The Haj pilgrims of Ladakh expressed deep appreciation to the Chairperson and all officials involved for their swift and effective response in securing the necessary travel arrangements.
