    Awareness Workshop on Domestic Violence Held in Kargil Under the banner of Mission Shakti One Stop centre

    Kargil, May 27: A one-day workshop-cum-awareness program on Domestic Violence was organized today at the Conference Hall, Baroo under the banner of Mission Shakti- One Stop Centre, Kargil today.
    The program commenced with an introduction by Case Worker Ms. Sapoora, followed by a detailed PowerPoint presentation by Centre Administrator Ms. Ummul Banin on the functioning of the One Stop Centre Kargil, highlighting the causes, impacts, and preventive measures related to domestic violence.
    Dr. Nasreen, Gynaecologist, shed light on the medical aspects and health consequences of domestic violence, citing real-life examples and the importance of early intervention and support.
    Advocate Kaneez, member of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), elaborated on the legal rights of women and provisions under the Domestic Violence Act 2005, She encouraged women to come forward and seek legal aid without fear or hesitation.
    District Programme Officer, ICDS, Ms. Nargis emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination and community involvement in addressing and curbing domestic violence.
    SHO Women Police Station, Kargil, Ms. Yangzom shared alarming insights on the rising number of domestic violence cases in the district, stressing the need for timely reporting, awareness, and stringent legal actions.
    Sub Inspector Mohd Ali from the Cyber Crime Unit presented a detailed PPT on cybercrimes targeting women and discussed their types, causes, and measures for prevention and safety in the digital space.
    Hajia Raziya, representing Hayat-e-Fatimia, spoke about the rights and status of women in Islamic teachings, and Hajia Zahra Yousufi from Zainabiya Women Welfare Society emphasised the need for grassroots awareness and community-driven solutions to safeguard women’s rights.
    ZEO Kargil Zahra Banoo, CDPO Shargole Farida Batool, CDPO Sankoo Aga Syed Jamal, CDPO Chiktan Mohd Ibrahim, along with members of Zainabiya Women Welfare Society, Hayat-e-Fatimia, ASHA workers from Sankoo and Shargole, ICDS supervisors, and staff of Mission Shakti and One Stop Centre Kargil were present on the occasion.
