Kargil, June 25, 2025 – Executive Councillor for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control (I&FC), and Urban Development, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohd Feroz today conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing construction work of the bypass bridge at Adul Ground, Kargil.
During the visit, the Executive Councillor underscored the importance of ensuring that the existing water pipelines are not disturbed during the construction. He directed the GREF officials to immediately begin excavation work for the new pipeline alignment to prevent disruption of essential services.
In response, GREF officials informed the Councillor that the survey team had yet to visit the site. They further highlighted a land dispute adjacent to the project area, which is currently sub-judice, and stressed the need for coordination with concerned authorities to resolve the issue amicably.
Local residents, present at the site, voiced serious concerns about damage caused to a previously maintained road during construction activities. They appealed to the Executive Councillor to take up the matter with the executing agency to ensure timely repair and restoration of the road. GREF officers responded positively, assuring compensation and support, but emphasized the need for land clearance and cooperation from all stakeholders to avoid project delays.
Additionally, the GREF officers proposed a fresh survey of the link road and requested access to updated revenue records. They sought coordination with landowners and structure owners on both sides of the bridge and an early resolution to the ongoing legal dispute affecting one side of the construction area.
To address all related concerns, it was decided that a joint survey will be conducted tomorrow to assess land boundaries, canal routes, trees, and other assets falling under the project zone. The Executive Councillor directed the officers from the Irrigation, PHE, Revenue, Horticulture, and Forest departments to actively participate in the joint survey for a comprehensive assessment.
