    DDAC Kargil Observes International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2025 Under “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan”

    Kargil, June 26, 2025 — The District De-Addiction Center, Kargil observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with great enthusiasm and community participation. This year’s theme, “The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention”, emphasized the urgent need to raise awareness and strengthen preventive strategies in the fight against drug abuse.
    The event began with welcome speech by Mr. Imtiyaz Hussain (Manager, DDAC Kargil) who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest Mrs. Kaneez Fatima (JKAS) Guest of honour Mr. Iliyas (S.I Ladakh police), esteemed guests Sheikh Bashir Shakiri from IKMT, Sheikh Nissar Nasiri from JUIAK, Principal Govt. High school Baroo to have graced the occasion. The chief guest of the event Mrs. Kaneez Fatima addressed the gathering and highlighted the increasing concerns around drug addiction among youth and the importance of timely intervention and counseling.
    A special Drug-Free Pledge was taken by all participants, reinforcing the collective commitment of the community to combat substance abuse. In addition, theatrical play was performed by Sawab Public School and winners of the Volleyball, Khokho and poster making competition were awarded with trophies along with certificate of participation . Team of District De-addiction Center, expressed gratitude to all the guests, participants and emphasized the importance of continuous awareness programs, early identification, and community-based rehabilitation.
    The event concluded with the distribution of awareness materials and the setting up of a help desk to offer information on counseling services and treatment options available at the center.
    The District De-addiction Center, Kargil, remains dedicated to building a drug-free, healthy, and empowered community, working hand in hand with families, schools, and civil society.
