WWF, School Education Department host Mission Khoryug Award Ceremony; ADC Kargil Imteeaz Kacho presides as Chief Guest.
Kargil, June 26, 2025 – In collaboration with School Education Department, Kargil, WWF-India held Mission Khoryug’s Award Ceremony and Teachers’ Orientation Workshop under its flagship environmental education initiative, Mission Khoryug.
The orientation session was aimed to empower Government school teachers with the tools, knowledge and strategies needed to implement Mission Khoryug’s unique six-milestone approach towards environmental education across schools in States/UTs.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC Kargil Imteeaz Kacho congratulated team WWF-India for organizing an insightful event to impart awareness about the importance of harmonious co-existence of wildlife species including flora and fauna in our environment.
Further, he said that such campaigns will play a pivotal role to build positive consciousness and awareness among the people to be more eco-friendly. The ADC urged students to participate in such important campaigns and become ambassadors for such critical issues in their respective spheres of life.
Kacho applauded the initiative taken by WWF-India in Ladakh and said that the District Administration of Kargil will extend full support to the organization for such noble causes in future as well. He expressed optimism about creating a greener, cleaner and liveable Ladakh.
Mission Khoryug Award for Best Schools was awarded to Government Middle School, Karamba; Government High School, Mushkoo, Drass and Government Boys’ Middle School, Chiktan.
The Best Student Green Cabinet Award was awarded to Government High School, Gongma, Kargil and Government High School School, Garkone.
The session not only introduced the educators to the pedagogical framework of Mission Khoryug but also showcased successful case studies from across the UT where students, guided by trained teachers, have led real-life conservation and sustainability projects in their communities. Mission Khoryug (Parkriti) is currently being implemented in over 20,000 schools across seven (7) States.
