Leh, June 28, 2025 – The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Leh Romil Singh Donk today chaired a comprehensive review meeting of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) at the DC office’s VC room. The meeting focused on assessing the ongoing work, addressing implementation challenges, and ensuring timely provision of safe drinking water to all households in the district.
The session began with a detailed presentation outlining the current status of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) and the progress of various JJM components. DC Leh meticulously reviewed pending executions, field methodologies, and techniques employed in the project’s implementation. Key discussions revolved around challenges faced during the execution of JJM projects.
DC Leh specifically reviewed the grievance redressal portal, emphasizing the importance of efficient and timely resolution of public complaints. Furthermore, the status of NABL-accredited laboratories in Leh district was also assessed, with a focus on water sampling and testing procedures. To demonstrate the process, the team was instructed to conduct a sampling test in Leh city. A detailed review of current contamination levels in the district’s water supply was also undertaken. He announced an upcoming visit to the District level lab for a firsthand review of their operations.
The meeting also covered the financial status of the mission, a review of assets, storage capacities, and the numbers of functional springs and borewells. Operation and maintenance issues were thoroughly discussed, and solutions were explored to ensure the long-term sustainability of the water supply infrastructure.
Concluding the meeting, he urged all concerned officials to diligently oversee their activities in their respective areas. He reiterated his commitment to the mission by announcing upcoming site visits to personally review and ensure prompt completion of all pending activities under Jal Jeevan Mission.
