    LAHDC Kargil Hosts Academic Interaction on Climate Resilience in the Himalayas.
    Kargil, 12th July 2025 – Executive Councillor for Tourism, KDA/PHE, and Irrigation, LAHDC Kargil, Kacho Mohammad Feroz convened a significant group discussion on climate resilience in the Himalayas with a delegation of distinguished professors from various national and international institutions.
    The academic delegation included Prof. Alexander Sorkin (HSE University, Russia), Dr. Richa Agarwal Malik, Dr. Chander Pal Singh, Dr. Pardeep Singh (all from University of Delhi), Sofia Bogosian (HSE), among others.
    The event was graced by the presence of Executive Councillor for RDD, ZDA & FCS&CA, Er. Punchok Tashi, and Executive Councillor for Education, PDD and Mechanical, LAHDC Kargil, Zakir Hussain
    The interaction is part of the ongoing International Summer School Programme titled “Confronting the Climate Challenge in the Indian Himalayas: Pathways to Resilience”, being held from 7th to 15th July 2025. This programme is organized by the Department of Earth Sciences, Institute of Mountain Environment, University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies on Mountain and Hill Environment, University of Delhi, and Higher School of Economics University, Russia, along with other allied institutions.
    The primary objective of the programme is to foster understanding of climate change and sustainable development challenges in the Ladakh Himalayan region and to explore resilience strategies through stakeholder engagement and academic collaboration.
