    DC Kargil chairs NCORD meeting to step up anti-drug efforts; Focus on awareness, coordination, and rehabilitation.
    Kargil, July 15, 2025: Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS, today chaired the monthly meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Center (NCORD) Mechanism at his office chamber. The meeting was convened in compliance with the directives from the State Level NCORD Meeting of UT Ladakh.
    SSP Kargil, Division Forest Officer, Wildlife Warden Kargil, Excise and Taxation Officer Kargil, District Drugs Controller, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), representative of CMO, District Social Welfare Officer, Agriculture, Education, ITBF, DDAC, among others were present in the meeting.
    The committee reviewed trends in drug trafficking, progress in drug-related investigations, and strategies to increase awareness, particularly among students. The meeting also looked into setting up better detection systems, alternative development programs, and de-addiction support.
    Addressing the committee, DC Kargil issued various instructions for strict and regular monitoring on drug related activities if any across the district through coordinated field inspections by agriculture, forest, and police departments. He stressed on enhanced inter-departmental coordination for seamless information exchange and swift action on drug-related issues.
    The DC directed the concerned officials to launch awareness campaigns using pamphlets, posters, and community outreach programs, especially targeting youth and educational institutions. He directed to establish a One-Stop Coordination Centre, integrating services and data from health, education, social welfare, and law enforcement agencies to respond effectively to drug-related cases.
    The DC further directed to promote employment schemes to help communities move away from drug-related activities and stressed to improve facilities at the Drug De-addiction and Rehabilitation Centre.
