Sheep Husbandry Department Nyoma observed July as month of compassion.

Today on 17-07-2025 Sheep Husbandry Department Nyoma observed July as month of compassion. In this function Honourable Councillor LAHDC Leh Nyoma and Rupsho Shri Ishey Spalzang and Shri Karma Namdak respectively participated in the function as chief guest and worthy Director PMO Ms Shewta Singh too participated as the guest of honour. In the function SHD Nyoma invited public representatives and sheep goat herders of Nyoma Subdivision.
Dr Mohd Sadiq Assistant Director PGF Nyoma briefed the developmental activities and schemes carried out by the department for the welfare of Changthang sheep and goat herders. In the function the officer inculcated the Worthy Director PM Office regarding various challenges faced by the pashmina herders and requested her to personally intervene and pursue for the sanction and release of funds under Vibrant village programme for which DPR has been submitted to the concerned higher authorities.
Later Councillor Nyoma and Rupsho, Worthy Director PM Office Ms Shewta Singh and AD PGF Nyoma distributed incentives(rebo type tent) to 80 breeders and 2 nos of predators proof corrals to the breeders of Nyoma Block.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks extended by the Assistant Director PGF Nyoma, Dr. Mohd Sadiq, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, public representatives, and the resilient herding community of Changthang for their participation and support. He emphasized the department’s continued commitment to the upliftment of the region’s traditional livestock practices and the preservation of the rich legacy of Pashmina production. The Sheep Husbandry Department Nyoma reaffirmed its resolve to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to address the pressing issues faced by herders and to ensure sustainable development through focused interventions under various government schemes.
