DC Kargil Chairs Review Meeting of Different Departments at Zanskar.
Kargil, July 19, 2025: Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, IAS , today chaired a review meeting of various line departments at Dak Bungalow Padum, Zanskar, to assess the progress of ongoing developmental works, address administrative matters, and public grievance redressal.
The meeting was attended by SDM Zanskar, Executive Engineer ZDA/ R&B, and officials from the PHE, PDD, KREDA, Tourism Department, Information, Degree College Zanskar, and other concerned departments.
During the meeting, the DC took a comprehensive review of ongoing and new works under the District Capex Budget, including projects related to buildings, roads, bridges, and non-engineering sectors. He directed that strict quality control be maintained and instructed departments to send work samples to the district laboratory for verification. He strictly instructed not to compromise in the quality of execution.
Each department presented details of their expenditures and ongoing issues. The DC reviewed the status of issuance of domicile, mutation, and property certificates, and asked the SDM Zanskar to organize dedicated village-level camps for domicile issuance to ease the process for the public.
The DC also reviewed the current status of transmission infrastructure between Kargil and Zanskar and other related areas.
Further, he directed all departments to submit details of their revenue-generating assets such as guest houses, cafeterias, offices and other structures to his office. He emphasized that these assets could be outsourced to generate local employment, boost tourism, and provide better public services.
Addressing the importance of education, the DC stressed the need for counseling and awareness sessions for high school students to encourage them toward higher education and career planning.
The DC instructed the Tourist Officer Zanskar to ensure registration of hotels, guest houses, and homestays under the new registration provisions.
He further assured to review department wise progress in the coming days .
