Leh, 19 July, 2025: A delegation comprising former Block Presidents of the Ladakh Buddhist Association from different areas called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Shri Kavinder Gupta, at the Lt Governor’s Secretariat to extend their heartfelt gratitude and warm welcome to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor upon his assumption of office in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The delegates expressed hope and optimism on Shri Kavinder Gupta’s assumption of the new post as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, and they conveyed their sincere appreciation to the Government of India and HLG for the historic announcement made regarding the creation of five new districts in Ladakh last year—namely Sham, Nubra, Changthang, Drass, and Zanskar. They also apprised HLG of tourism and hydro power potential in Ladakh and requested the HLG to focus on development in these areas.
They furthermore requested HLG for the early implementation and formalisation of the five new districts for the smooth functioning and fast-track development of the different parts of Ladakh.
In response, the HLG expressed hope and assured them that development works will be expedited for the overall development of Ladakh and all the areas of Ladakh.
Commissioner/Secretary to the HLG Dr. L Franklin, IAS, Sh Phunchok Sonam from Chumathang, Sh Tashi Gyaltson from Nyoma, Sh Tsering Nurboo from Khaltse, Sh Stanzin Dorjay from Sham, Sh Tashi Namgyal Garkhon, Sh Phuntsog from Darchik, Sh Nurboo from Nubra were present during the meeting.
