    Leh, July 25: A five day capacity building workshop on Psychosocial Care in Disaster Management: Health Sector Disaster Preparedness and Response concluded today at the Conference Hall of the Mission Director, National Health Mission (NHM), Leh.
    Organised under the Central Sector Scheme on Health Sector Disaster Preparedness and Response, the workshop was conducted by the Department of Psychosocial Support in Disaster Management (DPSSDM), National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru. The program aimed at equipping healthcare professionals with essential skills to
    provide mental health and psychosocial support during disasters and emergencies.
    The training witnessed active participation from medical officers, psychologists, counsellors, and other healthcare professionals across Ladakh. Participants shared their positive feedback, stating that the training proved highly beneficial in understanding the psychosocial dynamics during disasters. They also expressed the need for more such workshops in the future to enhance preparedness and response capacity.
    The concluding session was graced by Shri Tushar Anand /IAS, Mission Director NHM Ladakh, Dr. Tashi Thinles Director Health Services, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Manikappa Principal Investigator and Associate Professor, DPSSDM, NIMHANS and Dr. Iqbal Ahmed State Immunization Officer Leh.
    While Addressing the Participants Dr. Tashi Thinles Director Health Services emphasized the importance of psychosocial support mechanisms within the public health response system, especially in the context of Ladakh’s unique geographic and climatic vulnerabilities. Later The Certificates of participation were awarded to all attendees as a mark of appreciation for their commitment and active involvement in the five-day training program.
    The workshop concluded with a collective resolve to integrate psychosocial care more effectively within disaster preparedness plans across the Union Territory of Ladakh.
