Delegation from Chortanchan Hagnis Calls on CEC Kargil, Seeks Medical Aid Centre.
Kargil, July 29, 2025 – A delegation from Chortanchan Hagnis, led by local representatives and villagers called on the Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today to raise the demand for the establishment of a Medical Aid Centre in the area.
The delegation highlighted the difficulties faced by the residents due to the absence of basic healthcare facilities. With a population of around 1,300, the nearest hospital is situated at Chiktan, approximately 5 kilometers away, which causes significant hardships—especially for the elderly, pregnant women, and patients during emergencies.
CEC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon acknowledged the concern and stated that while currently there is no specific scheme for such establishments under the UT administration, any future provision in this regard will prioritize Chortanchan Hagnis.
Liyakhat Ali, Councillor of Hagnis constituency, and a number of local villagers were present during the meeting.
