SDM Khaltse Chairs Preparatory Meeting for Visit of “His Holiness the Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche” to Sham Region.
Khaltse, August 2, 2025:
In accordance with the directions of the Hon’ble Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC-Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, the Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Khaltse, Mohd Sharif, chaired a preparatory meeting today at his office in Khaltse. The meeting focused on reviewing and coordinating arrangements for the forthcoming visit and teachings of “His Holiness the Sakya Gongma Trichen Rinpoche”, scheduled for August 9–10, 2025, at Zerthang Photang.
The meeting was attended by concerned departmental officers and representatives, including the President of the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), Sham Unit. Discussions centered on key logistical and infrastructural aspects, such as road connectivity, drinking water supply, electricity, traffic regulation, parking arrangements (for both VIPs and the general public), medical facilities, public conveniences, seating, public address system installation, and waste management.

The SDM directed all departments to ensure the timely execution of preparatory works ahead of the scheduled event. Following the meeting, a joint site inspection was carried out at Zerthang Photang to assess the venue’s readiness.
Subsequently, the SDM visited the PWD Rest House, where a team of venerable monks from Leh had arrived to oversee arrangements for the visit of His Holiness to the Sham region. The SDM, along with Sub Divisional officers, reviewed the preparations and issued necessary instructions as per the guidance of the Head Lama.
A detailed discussion was held under the chairmanship of “His Holiness Khentrul Rinpoche”, during which Khenpo Thinles outlined the schedule and ceremonial arrangements for the visit. The team also reviewed seating and accommodation arrangements at the Rest House for His Holiness and his entourage.
President of LBA Sham Unit, Tsering Nurboo, also briefed the gathering on preparations related to the teaching ceremony at Zerthang Photang.
The meeting concluded with participation from venerable monks, SDM Mohd Sharif, LBA Sham President Tsering Nurboo, Executive Engineer PWD Thinles Zangpo, Sub Inspector Skarma Angchok, and other officials and LBA Sham members.
