    NEW DELHI, August 5, 2025 – Ladakhi artist Skarma Sonam Tashi has been awarded the prestigious National Award at the 64th National Exhibition of Art, a flagship event organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, and the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The award ceremony was held on August 5, 2025.
    Skarma’s winning work, titled “My Homeland – 3,” is a sculpture that reflects the unique landscapes and traditional architectural styles of Ladakh. The artwork stands out for its use of recycled materials such as cardboard, paper mâché, and natural pigments, embodying themes of sustainability and ecological sensitivity.
    This is a historic achievement, as Skarma Sonam Tashi is the first artist from Ladakh to receive this esteemed national recognition, bringing a moment of pride to the region.
    The exhibition, which showcases a diverse range of contemporary Indian art, is open to the public until September 15, 2025. Visitors can view the award-winning work and other featured pieces daily from 11 AM to 7 PM at the Lalit Kala Art Gallery, Rabindra Bhavan, New Delhi.
