    Kargil, September 05, 2025: On the occasion of National Teachers’ Day, The All Teachers Welfare Association Soth (ATWAS), Kargil organized an Inter-School Speech, Qasida/Naat and Drawing Competition today for students of Secondary, Middle and Primary level at Government Higher Secondary School, Yurbaltaq. The event was held in two sessions – a Competition Session in the morning and a Felicitation Session & Award Ceremony in the evening.
    The programme was graced by Executive Councillor for Education, LAHDC Kargil, Mr. Zakir Hussain as the Chief Guest; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, Imteeaz Kacho; Councillor, Silmo, Feroz Ahmad Khan; Councillor, Poyen, Mohd. Amin and Councillor, Yurbaltaq, Manzoor-ul- Hussain as Guests of Honour. The event was also attended by Zonal Education Planning Officer, Kargil; Executive Engineer, Mechanical Division, Kargil; Executive Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control Department, Kargil; Principal, Government Higher Secondary School, Silmo; In-Charge Principal, Government Higher Secondary School, Aqchamal and In-Charge Principal, Government Higher Secondary Schoo, Yurbaltaq as special guests. The senior members of ATWAS, escort teachers from all participant schools and the retired teachers of the area also graced the occasion.
    In the morning session, students from 22 Schools (out of 25 invited Schools) from Mangmorer (Aqchamal) to Garkone, enthusiastically participated in the competitions, showcasing their talent, creativity and knowledge. The atmosphere was filled with a sense of healthy competition and youthful energy.
    Assistant Professor of Urdu in GDC-Kargil, Jaweed Jalib Amini; Senior Librarian of GDC-Kargil Mohd. Ali Khan; Lecturer, DIET-Kargil, Kacho Nissar Ali Khan; former Zonal Education Officer, Syed Abul Hassan and former Lecturer Haji Mohd shouldered the responsibility of Jury during the competitions.
    While addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest Executive Councillor for Education, LAHDC-Kargil appreciated the initiative of ATWAS in nurturing young talent and fostering a spirit of respect and learning on Teachers’ Day. He emphasized the positive progress being made by the Government Schools of Kargil. The Guests of Honour and Special Guests also spoke on the occasion and lauded the enthusiasm of the students and the dedication of the organizers. Most speakers highlighted the role of teachers in society and their contribution to the education system of Kargil. They also threw light on the need to enhance quality of education and to create a friendly academic atmosphere in the schools Sodh region.
    The winners of the competitions were honoured with awards and certificates. To encourage every participant, certificates of participation were also distributed among all students. ATWAS also facilitated the Headmaster of Government Middle School, Darchiks, for his outstanding performance in educational upliftment. On the other hand, the UT-level topper in JEE Mains, belonging to Aqchamal, was also facilitated. The Principals of all the three participating Higher Secondary Schools were also facilitated with momentoes.
    The President ATWAS, Mohd. Hussain presented a memorandum before the guests and highlighted various issues pertaining to teachers, students and effective development of the education sector in the Sodh region. The event concluded with a note of gratitude presented Vice president ATWAS Zakir Hussain.
