    Sankoo, September 17, 2025: In a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare services in the Union Territory of Ladakh, the Department of Health & Medical Education, has marked a historic milestone in the Sankoo-Suru valley of Kargil district.
    The Department of Surgery at CHC Sankoo successfully performed an open mesh hernioplasty here today at
    Community Health Centre, Sankoo.
    The procedure was carried out smoothly, without complications, and the patient is currently recovering well under post-operative care.
    The Operation was Carried out by Dr. Raziya Banoo, (Consultant Surgeon CHC Sankoo), Dr. Ishaq Nabi, (Consultant, General & Laparoscopic Surgery) (Para Health, Srinagar) Dr. Asif Hussain, (Consultant Anaesthetist) District Hospital, Kargil.
    Simultaneously, the Department of Gynaecology & Obstetrics at CHC Sankoo successfully conducted an elective Lower Segment Caesarean Section (LSCS), ensuring safe childbirth and comprehensive maternal care.
    The operation was conducted by Dr. Nasreen Fatima, Gynaecologist & Obstetrician, Dr. Asif Hussain, Consultant Anaesthetist of District Hospital Kargil.
    Special attention was also provided to the newborn by the assisting team, ensuring both maternal and neonatal care were handled with diligence and expertise.
    These dual surgical successes, conducted simultaneously with TEPP (Total Extra-Peritoneal) analgesia administered by Dr. Asif Consultant Anaesthesia District Hospital Kargil and his dedicated team, demonstrate the expanding capabilities and readiness of CHC Sankoo to provide quality secondary healthcare services.
    This achievement is a testament to the dedication of the healthcare professionals involved and the ongoing efforts by the UT Ladakh Administration to bring advanced medical services to rural and underserved communities.
