Kargil, September 22, 2025: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today inaugurated a free cancer screening camp organised by Al Reza Health Care and Research Foundation in collaboration with Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital, Noida.
The inaugural event was attended by Member Parliament Ladakh Mohd Hanifa Jan, President Jamiat Ul Ulama Isna Asharia Kargil Sheikh Nazir Mehdi, President Al Reza Dr. Mohammad Abbas, and expert delegates from Yatharth Hospital.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mohammad Abbas said the aim of the camp is to provide doorstep access to patients for cancer awareness and early detection. He highlighted that the number of cancer cases is increasing in Kargil, and such initiatives will help common people detect the disease at an early stage. The camp will be held on September 23 at District Hospital Kargil.
CEC Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, in his address, stressed that poor patients should benefit from this collaboration and assured support from LAHDC. He urged the hospital authorities to consider providing maximum help to underprivileged patients, as NGO and crowdfunding assistance remains limited. He also expressed hope that the UT administration will allocate separate funds for super-speciality treatment for poor patients.
MP Mohd Hanifa Jan and Sheikh Nazir Mehdi also addressed the gathering and thanked Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital for conducting the camp in Kargil.
