    Sankoo, October 08, 2025: The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Prof. Saket Kushwaha, visited the Government Degree College Kargil, Sankoo Campus, today and held an interactive session with the faculty and students. The visit aimed to review the academic progress of the campus and deliberate on key issues outlined in the memorandum presented by both the faculty and student representatives of the college.
    The Vice-Chancellor was accorded a warm traditional welcome by the faculty and students. He was greeted with Khataqs, followed by the presentation of a beautifully hand-embroidered artwork crafted by students of the Hand Embroidery Skill Course as a token of respect and appreciation.
    Dr. Saleem Ahmad, Nodal Officer, Sankoo Campus, delivered the formal welcome address, expressing gratitude for the Vice-Chancellor’s continued support and guidance. Dr. Azra Khatoon, Assistant Professor, Sankoo Campus, moderated the proceedings of the programme.
    During his address, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted key initiatives, including the fast-tracking of faculty placement and promotion cases under the implementation of Recruitment Rules; sanction of ₹15,000 for campus office expenses; a consolidated TA/DA of ₹6,000 for contractual teachers; creation of Vice-Principal posts at GDC Kargil and Sankoo Campus; and inclusion of Sankoo Campus representation in Syndicate and Teacher Transfer meetings.
    He also emphasized faculty remuneration for examination duties, recognition of on-duty status for trips and training, introduction of new subjects (Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Commerce), establishment of campus development funds, and provision of financial support for ten underprivileged students.
    The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the faculty and students and encouraged them to continue pursuing academic excellence and skill development initiatives.
