Kargil, November 7, 2025: NHPC Limited celebrated its 51st Raising Day today, commemorating its establishment on 7th November 1975. The occasion holds special significance as the organization proudly enters its Golden Jubilee Year, marking five decades of excellence and unwavering commitment to the development of hydroelectric power across India.
Raising Day is celebrated every year at all NHPC projects and units, including the Corporate Headquarters in Faridabad. To mark this momentous milestone, a vibrant cultural programme was organized at Chutak Power Station, Kargil, showcasing the spirit of unity, achievement, and cultural diversity that defines the organization.
The event was graced by the Hon’ble Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon, as the Chief Guest.
In his address, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon congratulated NHPC on this remarkable occasion and expressed heartfelt appreciation for its significant contributions to the power sector in Kargil. He acknowledged NHPC’s pivotal role in transforming the region’s power scenario, stating that “before the establishment of NHPC projects, Kargil faced severe challenges in power supply. Today, with the connection to the National Power Grid, the region enjoys stable electricity — a testament to NHPC’s dedication and vision.”
Dr. Akhoon further highlighted that Kargil possesses immense potential for future hydroelectric projects and expressed optimism that NHPC would continue to support the people of Kargil in harnessing these resources for sustainable development.
Head of Project, Chutak Power Station, Ramakanata Malik, expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest and all dignitaries present. He extended his congratulations to NHPC employees across India and lauded their hard work and dedication. He also reaffirmed NHPC’s commitment to supporting the people of Ladakh and contributing to the region’s growth and prosperity.
The event was attended by Hon’ble Councillor Munshi Nasir, Hon’ble Councillor Aga Ainul Huda, General Manager (Civil) Mohd Suhail, and other senior officials and staff members of NHPC. The celebration concluded with cultural performances and a vote of thanks, marking a memorable start to NHPC’s Golden Jubilee Year.
