Nyoma, 18th November 2025: The Sheep Husbandry Department conducted an awareness/breeders’ camp at Korzok today, in which a large number of farmers participated.
Dr. Mohd. Sadiq, Assistant Director PGF Nyoma, gave a detailed presentation on the concept and functioning of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) and the provisions under NLM. He explained how FPOs help farmers collectively mobilize resources, improve market linkages, reduce input costs, and enhance income opportunities. All the participants listened attentively and clearly understood the benefits. After the discussion, the participants expressed their willingness to initiate the formation of FPOs in their respective areas and agreed to work together to take the process forward.
Dr. Tsewang Dolma discussed various schemes of the Department that are implemented every year, along with important diseases affecting sheep and goats.
The camp concluded with an interactive session during which participants cleared their doubts. The village representatives appreciated the Department’s schemes and acknowledged its continued support for improving the livelihood of local herders through various departmental activities.
