    Director Sheep Husbandry Department UT Ladakh, Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, along with DSHO Leh, Dr. Tsewang Morup, and Deputy Director Pashmina Goat Project, Upshi, Dr. Tundup Namgail, visited Beema, on 22nd November to inspect the establishment of the prefabricated Sheep and Wool Development Centre, Bema under the Special Development Package (SDP).

    Director Sheep Husbandry Department UT Ladakh, Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, along with DSHO Leh, Dr. Tsewang Morup, and Deputy Director Pashmina Goat Project, Upshi, Dr. Tundup Namgail, visited Beema, on 22nd November to inspect the establishment of the prefabricated Sheep and Wool Development Centre, Bema under the Special Development Package (SDP). They also attended a Breeder Awareness Camp under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) with enthusiastic participation from breeders of Dha, Beema, and Sanit villages.

    DSHO Dr. Tsewang Morup briefed breeders on departmental schemes and urged timely availing of benefits. Addressing concerns about skin infections and the need for livestock sheds at winter pastures, Deputy Director Dr. Tundup Namgail emphasized timely treatment and assured that genuine demands would be addressed soon.

    In his concluding remarks, Director Dr. Iftikhar Hussain stressed the urgent need to revive and strengthen livestock rearing in the region and called for collective efforts to increase livestock population. He highlighted the role of the Sheep and Wool Development Centre in improving veterinary care, extension services, and wool marketing.

    Portable tents and tarpaulins were distributed to breeders as a part of the program. The Director thanked the village Nambardar for providing land for the Sheep Centre, calling it a significant contribution. Overall, the event wrapped up successfully, as breeders expressed gratitude for the department’s efforts and focused on grassroots concerns.

    The team further inspected the newly built Block Office in Khaltsi, which is set to be operational soon.
