The Department of Horticulture organized an Exposure Tour for 25 farmers of Leh district to Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (CITH), Srinagar, Kashmir. The initiative aims to enhance the knowledge of different horticulture practices by getting handhold practical training regarding grafting, budding, pruning, and training techniques essential for the establishment of high-quality fruit nurseries, particularly for apricot and apple etc in the region.
During the tour, the farmers will also visit prominent departmental nurseries and the Centre of Excellence in Srinagar to familiarize themselves with the practical layout, design, and management of systematic nurseries and orchard establishment models. The exposure is expected to build capacity among the farming community and encourage adoption of scientific horticulture practices in Ladakh.
The tour was flagged off at 6:00 AM on 25.11.2025 by Smt. Kunzang Wangmo, Chief Horticulture Officer, Leh, along with Dr. Sonam Dawa, Horticulture Development Officer, Leh at NDS Stadium, Leh.
