SAANS Training Held at CHC Khaltse.
Khaltse, November 27, 2025: A one-day training programme on the SAANS (Social Awareness and Actions to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully) initiative was successfully conducted today at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Khaltse, under the chairmanship of the Block Medical Officer (BMO), Khaltse, Dr. Shamim Ahmad.
The training was organised to enhance the skills and knowledge of frontline health workers in the prevention, early identification, and effective management of childhood pneumonia. The session was led by Dr. Spalchen Gonbo, Consultant Paediatrician, who served as the resource person. Dr. Gonbo provided valuable insights into updated treatment protocols and case management strategies, along with hands-on demonstrations to tackle this critical child health issue.
A total of 50 healthcare workers from Khaltse Block participated in the training, including 35 Female Multi-Purpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) and 15 Community Health Officers (CHOs). The programme focused on practical, case-based learning, demonstrations, and interactive discussions to strengthen participants’ capacity to address pneumonia at the community level.
The Participants actively engaged throughout the session, reflecting their strong commitment to improving child healthcare services in the region.
