The Sheep Husbandry Department Nyoma organised a Sheep Camp under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) at Nyoma village. The programme was graced by Dr. Iftikar Hussain, Director Sheep Husbandry Department, as the Chief Guest, along with Dr. Tundup Namgyal, Deputy Director PGF Upshi.
Assistant Director PGF Nyoma, Dr. Mohd Sadiq, welcomed the breeders and dignitaries and highlighted the objectives of NLM in strengthening livestock-based livelihoods.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Iftikar Hussain briefed the villagers about the importance and significance of sheep and goat herding, emphasising its role in sustaining the local economy. Dr. Tundup Namgyal also spoke on the vital contribution of herding to pashmina production and overall rural development.
Prizes were distributed under NLM, including awards for the highest sheep and goat population, top pashmina producer, highest ovine population, along with 10 consolation prizes to breeders with the highest livestock numbers in their respective villages.
