    Drass, December 05, 2025: In Ladakh, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kargil-I celebrated World Soil Day at Mushku village in Drass block under the global theme “Healthy Soil for Healthy Cities.” Abdul Samat, Councilor LAHDC Kargil for Drass, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
    The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Nazir, Scientist (Agronomy), who also delivered an insightful lecture on soil health and sustainable agricultural practices.
    Dr. Nasreen Fatima, Head KVK Kargil, emphasized the growing need to shift towards organic and eco-friendly farming methods. She highlighted that maintaining soil health is directly linked to food safety, human health, and environmental sustainability. She urged farmers to adopt soil testing, integrated nutrient management, and minimal use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides to preserve soil fertility for future generations. She further assured that KVK Kargil will continue to support farmers through training, demonstrations, and regular awareness programs.
    Councilor Abdul Samat expressed gratitude to KVK Kargil for organizing World Soil Day in his constituency and appreciated their efforts toward farmer welfare. Noor Mohammad, former BDC Drass, also praised the initiative, welcoming more such programs in the region.
    Farmers of Mushku and nearby villages thanked KVK Kargil-I for organizing the awareness camp, stating that such programs help them understand various government schemes and adopt best practices for improving soil health and agricultural productivity.
