    Celebration of World Soil Day 2025 at Tukla Village by India’s highest KVK stationed at Nyoma.
    KVK Nyoma, under the leadership of Dr. Phuntsog Tundup, successfully observed World Soil Day on 5th December 2025 at Tukla Village. The programme witnessed the active participation of more than 26 farmers along with 6 officials from the highest KVK.
    Dr. Phuntsog Tundup opened the programme with warm greetings and emphasized the global significance of World Soil Day. He highlighted the importance of soil health, sustainable practices, and the need for proper maintenance to ensure long-term productivity. He also interacted closely with the farmers, addressing their queries on soil-related issues.
    Following this, Dr. Stanzin Diskit (Plant Pathologist) delivered an informative session on common diseases affecting various crops and vegetables cultivated in the region. She underscored the value of natural farming practices in reducing disease incidence and promoting ecological balance.
    Dr. Tsering Lanzes (Pomologist) spoke on the scope of horticultural crops in view of the shifting of fruit belts and climate change. She also discussed key factors influencing their successful cultivation under local agro-climatic conditions. Her insights aimed to help farmers enhance both productivity and crop quality.
    Dr. Jamyang Lahmo (Extension Educationist) briefed the farmers on the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY), outlining its major benefits and guiding them on how to avail themselves of the scheme’s provisions for improved livelihood opportunities.
    The technical sessions concluded with hands-on training conducted by Dr. Tashi Dolkar, SMS KVK Nyoma, who demonstrated the process of preparing tomato purée, enabling farmers to explore value addition and income diversification.
    The programme ended with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Jamyang Lahmo, who expressed gratitude to all participants, officials, and farmers for their active engagement and support.
