On 11 December 2025, the School Education Department conducted an Independent Assessment to evaluate the overall academic progress and learning outcomes of students across all Government Schools of Ladakh.
The assessment covered students of Government Schools in both Leh and Kargil districts, from Classes 1 to 7 and Class 9 (excluding Class 8). Across the entire UT, approximately 11,000 students were assessed on their knowledge in key subjects such as English, Urdu, Mathematics, Science, and Social Sciences. The examination followed a Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) pattern and was conducted simultaneously across all educational blocks of both districts.
The UT Administration introduced OMR-based answer sheets, and the question papers were designed in alignment with the prescribed learning outcomes. To ensure the smooth and fair conduct of the examination, Centre Superintendents, Duty Magistrates, and Invigilators were deployed at designated centres. Almost all examination centres were equipped with CCTV cameras, strengthening monitoring mechanisms and ensuring transparency throughout the process.
This Independent Assessment aims to measure not only the students’ conceptual understanding but also reflect the effectiveness of the teaching faculty.
