Leh, December 11, 2025: The School Education Department, UT Ladakh, has successfully conducted an Independent Assessment to evaluate the academic progress and learning outcomes of students enrolled in all Government Schools across the region.
The assessment covered students from Classes 1 to 7 and Class 9 (excluding Class 8) across both Leh and Kargil districts. A total of approximately 11,000 students participated in the assessment, which evaluated competencies in key subjects such as English, Urdu, Mathematics, Science, and Social Sciences.
The examination was held in a Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) format and conducted simultaneously across all education blocks of the two districts.
In a significant move to enhance transparency and efficiency, the UT Administration introduced OMR-based answer sheets for the first time. The question papers were designed strictly in alignment with the prescribed learning outcomes, ensuring accuracy and relevance.
To facilitate the smooth and fair conduct of the assessment, Centre Superintendents, Duty Magistrates, and Invigilators were deployed across designated centres. Additionally, CCTV cameras were installed in nearly all examination centres to strengthen monitoring and uphold transparency throughout the process.
This Independent Assessment is a key initiative aimed at measuring not only the conceptual understanding of students but also the overall effectiveness of the teaching-learning process, thereby contributing to evidence-based improvements in the education system of Ladakh.
