Anti-Encroachment Drive Conducted in Kargil Town; Fine Imposed on Violators.
Kargil, December 15, 2025: In compliance with the directions of the Worthy Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, an anti-encroachment drive was conducted today, in Kargil town along the stretch from Iqbal Bridge to the Old Taxi Stand.
The drive was jointly carried out by the Tehsildar Kargil, Station House Officer, Police Station Kargil, Municipal Committee (MC) Kargil, and the Traffic Police Kargil with the objective of removing unauthorized encroachments from roads and footpaths to ensure smooth traffic flow and pedestrian safety.
During the drive, encroachments on public roads and footpaths were removed and a fine amounting to Rs. 4,500 was imposed on the violators as per the rules in force.
The district administration has appealed to shopkeepers and the general public to refrain from encroaching upon public spaces and to cooperate with the authorities in maintaining cleanliness, safety, and free movement in Kargil town. It was further emphasized that such enforcement drives will continue in the interest of public convenience and law and order.
