Nyoma,December 23, 2025 — As part of the nationwide Good Governance Week (19–25 December 2025), the Sheep Husbandry Department organised an outreach and awareness programme today at Mudh Village to educate local residents about various departmental schemes and opportunities for livestock development.
During the programme, Dr. Mohd Sadiq, Assistant Director, Pashmina Goat Farm, delivered a comprehensive briefing on welfare and development schemes of the Sheep Husbandry Department. He also introduced the concept of Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO), explaining it as a collective of farmers formed to improve bargaining power, reduce input costs, and ensure better market access for their produce.
Dr. Sadiq highlighted key advantages of FPOs, including collective procurement of feed and medicines, improved access to credit and government subsidies, value addition, branding, and better price realization for livestock and livestock products. He encouraged sheep and goat breeders to consider forming or joining an FPO for sustainable income growth.
He further urged villagers to submit updated lists of interested breeders for upcoming initiatives such as sheep and goat units, predator-proof corrals, nomadic tents, and other support components. The benefits of the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme were also explained to promote easy and affordable credit access.
The programme was attended by the Nambardar of Mudh Village, Goba members, and local villagers, who appreciated the department’s efforts. The event reinforced the objectives of Good Governance Week by promoting transparency, awareness, and improved service delivery while reaffirming support for pastoral communities of Changthang
