Sheep Husbandry Department Nyoma conducts Awareness Programme for Sheep and Goat Breeders.
Himya, December 24, 2025 — As part of Good Governance Week (19–25 December 2025), the Sheep Husbandry Department organised an awareness programme at Himya Village to educate sheep and goat breeders about various welfare and development schemes.
Dr. Mohd Sadiq, Assistant Director, Pashmina Goat Farm, highlighted key departmental initiatives, the concept of Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) for sheep and goat products, and the importance of collective marketing, value addition, and access to credit. He informed villagers that a noticeable revival of livestock has been observed in the area. On the occasion, pelleted feed for sheep and goats was also distributed by Assistant Director Nyoma, Dr. Mohd Sadiq, among local breeders. He further encouraged breeders to participate in upcoming schemes such as sheep and goat units, predator-proof corrals, nomadic tents, and Kisan Credit Card (KCC) facilities.
The programme was attended by the Nambardar, Goba members, and villagers, who appreciated the department’s efforts in strengthening livestock-based livelihoods in Changthang.
