The Chief Secretary of the UT-Ladakh, Shri Ashish Kundra, undertook an extensive review of developmental initiatives and public concerns across the region.
Leh, 22 January 2026: The Chief Secretary of the UT-Ladakh, Shri Ashish Kundra, on the second day of his tour of Nubra Sub-Division, undertook an extensive review of developmental initiatives and public concerns across the region.
The visit commenced with the Chief Secretary’s arrival at the SDM Office, Nubra, where he chaired a comprehensive review meeting with the sub-divisional administration.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Leh; SDM Nubra; Tehsildar Disket; Former Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh; and other concerned officers and officials.
The meeting focused on administrative issues, implementation of ongoing developmental projects, and strengthening service delivery mechanisms at the grassroots level.
The SDM Nubra gave a detailed presentation on sub-divisional administrative matters and developmental works underway in the sub-division.
During the meeting, the Former Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, raised several key issues, including concerns related to the power grid, non-registration of hotels in Nubra, the need to strengthen sub-divisional level hospitals, and the requirement for an increase in the number of doctors, among other matters.
Addressing these issues, the Chief Secretary, Shri Ashish Kundra, took stock of student enrolment in Degree College Nubra, reviewed horticulture-related challenges, and emphasised the promotion of sea buckthorn cultivation as a means of self-employment and livelihood enhancement for local farmers.
The Chief Secretary, Shri Kundra, also visited Diskit Monastery, where the monks accorded him a warm welcome. During his interaction with the monastic community, the monks highlighted various issues, including the widening of the parking area, expansion and improvement of the road to the monastery, and other infrastructure-related concerns.
The Chief Secretary gave a patient hearing to their demands and assured them that the issues would be examined sympathetically and appropriate measures would be taken in coordination with the concerned departments.
Further, the Chief Secretary visited Sumoor village, where he attended a public gathering and the residents raised several important issues such as the construction of a Community Hall for women’s groups (Ama Tsogspa), bridge connectivity from Sumoor to Burma and Lakjung to Diskit, registration of agricultural land, Jal Jeevan Mission-related matters, and other local developmental concerns. Responding to the grievances, Shri Kundra assured the public that the administration remains committed to inclusive development and that every possible effort would be made to address the genuine demands of the people in a time-bound manner.
Later, Shri Ashish Kundra visited the Siachen Base Camp, where he interacted with Army personnel deployed in the region. Brigadier V. S. Salaria, briefed the Chief Secretary about the operational aspects and significance of the Siachen Base Camp. During the visit, Shri Kundra paid homage to the brave martyrs at the War Memorial and visited the OP Baba Mandir and the training area.
He lauded the dedication, resilience, and supreme sacrifices of the armed forces serving in the world’s highest battlefield under extremely challenging conditions.
The Chief Secretary was accompanied during the tour by the Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Romil Singh Donk; SDM Nubra, Mukul Beniwal; and other sub-divisional and sectoral officers.
