    Kargil, January 26, 2026: The 77th Republic Day celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic zeal in Sub Division Sankoo today at the Mini Stadium, Sankoo. The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sankoo, Shri Waseem Ramzan Dar, JKAS, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
    The Chief Guest unfurled the National Flag at 11:00 a.m. sharp and took the salute from the march-past contingents comprising Ladakh Police and students of various schools.
    The programme commenced with the ceremonial flag hoisting, followed by the melodious rendition of the National Anthem by the students of Government Girls High School, Sankoo, which filled the atmosphere with patriotic spirit.
    Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest highlighted the significance of Republic Day and emphasized the values enshrined in the Constitution of India. He urged the youth to contribute positively towards the upliftment of society and the nation by cherishing moral values and excelling in the field of education. He further advised the youth to stay away from social vices and remain committed to books and discipline so as to bring laurels to the nation and the region.
    The celebration was further enriched by colourful cultural performances and value-based skits presented by students of various schools, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and the spirit of unity in diversity of the nation.
    On the occasion, meritorious officials were felicitated for their outstanding contributions and achievements in their respective fields. Mementos and prizes were also awarded to the participants who secured positions during the function.
    The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by the dispersal of contingents.
    The event was witnessed by Tehsildar Sankoo, Executive Engineer SVD Sankoo, other Sub-Divisional Officers, prominent citizens, students, and members of the general public in large numbers.
