ADC Kargil Attends Road Safety Awareness Programme at JPC Minji.

Among those present were Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Khadim Hussain, DTI Kargil Fazil Abbas, Sub Inspector Mehdi Khan, representatives of Traffic Police, JUIAK, Taxi Operators & Owners Cooperative, 207 Tata Mobile Cooperative, President Omni Vans Union, other transport associations, members of the general public and students of JPC.
ADC Imteeaz Kacho appreciated the creative expressions of JPC students displayed through paintings on the theme of road safety. He urged people to reduce the use of private vehicles, prefer public transport, consider making Saturdays free of private vehicles, strictly follow traffic rules and maintain civility while using roads.
He also lauded the driver fraternity of Kargil for their good conduct, cooperation with authorities and sense of social responsibility, and appreciated the transport unions for organising such a meaningful programme to create awareness, especially among children. He appreciated the sincere efforts put in for organising the event and also the efforts of the students of the institution in using their imagination to express their thoughts towards the cause of road safety.
ARTO Khadim Hussain briefed participants about various new rules and regulations, advising drivers to avoid the use of mobile phones while driving, follow traffic rules and maintain discipline on roads. He stressed reducing private vehicle usage and giving preference to public transport to ease congestion, reduce pollution and conserve resources.
DTI Fazil Abbas delivered a detailed presentation on traffic rules, do’s and don’ts, good road behaviour and essential safety values.
Inspector Mehdi Khan informed the audience about important road safety measures, including discouraging children from playing on roads and ensuring strict adherence to traffic rules.
Representatives of various transport unions also shared their views and highlighted challenges faced on roads.
The programme concluded with prize distribution to students for their performance in the painting competition.
